Yajur Veda Sammelan Concludes
Shrimatam Camp at Mylapore - 24 May 2015

The seven-day long Yajur Veda Sammelan culminated in the presence of His Holiness Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal.

More than 80 scholars took part in this sammelan. The entire Yajur Veda consisting of 82 Prashnas were chanted during the seven days.

In an Anugraha Bhashanam to the scholars, His Holiness Pujya Shri Shankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal said that the Parayanam had many unique features to it and further, it is a Samarpanam(offering) on behalf of the Vedic fraternity to His Holiness Pujya Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Shankaracharya Swamigal whose 80th Jayanthi celebrations are on.

His Holiness appreciated the fact that the parayanam was conducted by a blend of very experienced senior scholars and upcoming scholars. His Holiness told that it is a very healthy trend for knowledge transfer as it enables the young scholars to imbibe old values and conduct from the seniors along with adoption of proper chanting techniques.

His Holiness told that learning of Sanskrit by the student in early stages itself will immensely help during the course of Veda Adhyayana. His Holiness said that the ancient examination tradition Kal Vaitta Varam was also held in a shastric manner. His Holiness then performed Chandramouleeshwara Puja.
